چکیده

Abstract Lithium fluoride (LiF) crystals and thin films have been successfully investigated as X-ray imaging detectors based on optical reading of visible photoluminescence emitted by stable radiation-induced F 2 3 + colour centres. In this work, the response optically-transparent LiF film three different thicknesses, grown thermal evaporation Si(100) substrates irradiated with monochromatic 7 keV X-rays at several doses in range between 13 4.5× 10 Gy, was carefully fluorescence microscopy. For all linearly depends irradiation dose range. The lowest detected dose, delivered to thinnest film, only 0.5 ?m thick, is estimated Gy. Edge-enhancement experiments, conducted irradiating same energy placing an Au mesh front them a distance 15 mm, allowed estimating spatial resolution (0.38 ± 0.05) ?m, which comparable microscope one. This very high radiation centres combined availability wide field view large areas.

Advantages of Monochromatic X-rays for Imaging

The contrast of X-ray imaging depends on the radiation energy and acquires its maximum value at a certain optimum energy typical for the object under investigation. Usually, higher energies result in reduced contrast, lower energies are absorbed in the object thus having a smaller probability of reaching the detector. Therefore, broad X-ray spectra contain non-optimal quanta to a large extent a...

Synthesis and characterization of Gd2O2 S: Tb3+ phosphor powder for X-ray imaging detectors

Gadolinium oxysulfide phosphor doped with trivalent terbium have been synthesized using urea homogenous precipitation and followed by sulfurization at 800 °C under argon atmosphere. Structural and morphological of synthesized phosphor powder were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR). Comparison of Polychromatic and Monochromatic X-rays for Imaging

Monochromatic X-rays have been proposed for medical imaging, especially in the mammographic energy range. Our previous investigations have shown that the contrast of objects such as lesions or contrast media can be enhanced considerably by using monochromatic X-rays instead of the common polychromatic spectra. Admittedly, only one specific polychromatic spectrum and one monochromatic energy hav...

X-ray imaging with parametric X-rays (PXR) from a lithium fluoride (LiF) crystal

X-ray imaging produced by parametric X-rays (PXR) is reported. The PXR are generated using an electron beam with energy of 56MeV and currents up to 6.4 mA, that interacted with a 1.5-mm thick lithium fluoride (LiF) crystal target in Laue geometry. The LiF (2 2 0) crystallographic plane was used with a Bragg angle (yB) near 151 to produce PXR with energy 16.6 keV and FWHM of 3%. This intense, di...
